On June 28 2013, a cloud to ground lightning sparked what would become the deadliest wildfie on record in Arizona.  The fire claimed more than 8,000 acres and 127 structures in Yarnell, while taking the lives of 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshot firefighter crew.  The Yarnell Memorial Run was established in 2014 in memory of the 19 and in honor of their families.  Yarnell is located 25 miles north of Wickenburg on State Highway 89, and is nestled between Antelope Peak and the Weaver Mountains.  The area is known as Yarnell Hill, boasting an elevaton of 4,800 feet.  It is surrounded by state forest.  Visitors are greeted by Yarnell’s appropriate slogan, “Where the Desert Breeze Meets the Mountain Air”.  This mountain air is crisp and clean; views are unrestricted on Yarnell Hill, where you can see 10 miles or more!   Please note – beginning with the 2024 event we will no longer have a 19K distance. So, if you can’t join us on race day and still want to run, get the medal and the shirt then you still can! Here is your way to take part in this event no matter where you are! And of course, all prices include shipping! On race week all virtual participants will receive an email with instructions on how to submit your time. Please note that all items will be shipped following the event on June 8th. Virtual Registrations are restricted to US addresses only. Club SLR discounts do not apply.     Race Day Information  Race Day Check In starts at 5:45am. The live event in Yarnell will be limited to 500 people. We accept cash, and credit cards on race day. Checks are no longer accepted. Race day pricing will be: 10K $60, 5K $50, 1.9K Walk $30 Strollers are welcome but please note the course is a mix of dirt and pavement. Leashed pet friendly event.
