The Wild Irish Run, well-known for its history and established reputation in Alabama, is a traditional event celebrated annually on or near Saint Patrick’s Day. Originating as the Lake Guntersville race, it has transitioned over the years to what is now a much-loved course through scenic downtown Guntersville and alongside Lake Guntersville. Hosted by the City of Guntersville Recreation Department, the event features both accredited courses, gaining recognition for their fast, all-paved tracks that present minimal elevation challenges. Participants receive race packets with T-shirts and goodies upon entry, and top finishers earn prestigious trophies and medals.
