The Sunshine Coast Marathon & Community Run Festival is an internationally-recognised athletic event located within the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland, a short drive from Brisbane. Since its founding, the festival has raised over $1.6 million for charitable organisations and community groups. The festival has been timed to take advantage of the perfect Queensland winter running conditions, featuring mild temperatures, low humidity, and clear skies. The event includes various distances, such as the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km, and 2km. Each race follows the beautiful Alexandra Headland coastline with sandy beaches and magnificent ocean views. The Half Marathon follows a single loop, while the Marathon follows a multi-loop course composed of one 21km loop and two 10.5km loops, allowing participants to experience the on-course entertainment and cheer on spectators. The festival is ideal for everyone, regardless of age or ability, including those with physical and intellectual disabilities. The 2km race is designed for parents with prams and wheelchair entrants, while the start times have been scheduled to allow parents to take part in the longer distances and return in time to run with their children and enjoy the free fun in the family entertainment precinct.
