Steve Zemianek BENNINGTON ROAD RACE

The 45th Annual Steve Zemianek Bennington Road Race will return on Sunday, May 4th, 2025 at the Historic Park McCullough House in North Bennington, Vermont. Races get underway at 8:45AM with a 1/2 Mile Kids Fun Run, with the gun going off at 9AM for a 3.8 mile and 10K race.  The Zem-Benn has been a long standing tradition in southern Vermont, with events for all ages and abilities. Age group awards from 12 and under to 90 and over are presented in the 3.8 mile run and 19 and under to 90 and over in 10K event for 1st to 3rd place finishers. Walkers are encouraged and awards are presented for the top walker in the 3.8 mile event.  Dogs, strollers, and headphones are strongly discouraged due to insurance restrictions from RRCA. If you insist upon running with a stroller, you will need to start at the back of the group.  If you insist on running with your dog, 4 foot leash (strictly enforced, no refunds) and 2-minute delay from the rest of the runners.T-shirts are guaranteed to all participants in the 3.8 and 10K events that register prior to April 16-register early! First come, first serve to race day registrations. A discounted Family Registration category reduces the registration fees for families of 4 or more!  If all the family members are participating in the 3.8 run, use the Family Registration-3.8 mile run when registering.  If family members are splitting up (i.e, 2 in the 3.8 mile run, 1 in the 3.8 walk and 1 in the 10k), register under the Family Registration-different events and list where everyone is participating. If more than four family members are participating, each additional person is only $20. Big savings, so get the whole family involved!  In 2000, the Bennington Road Race was renamed in honor of longtime Mt. Anthony Union (Bennington, VT) track and field coach Steve Zemianek. Coach “Zem” was a fixture at the race for many years and a number of his former athletes continue to compete each year. Proceeds of the race are donated to the Coach Zem Scholarship, presented to a graduating Mt. Anthony senior who competed in Track and Field or Cross Country running. The proceeds of the race also benefit the BKVR scholarship fund and historic Park-McCullough House.  This organization provides many educational programs and hosts community events.
