The LGT Alpin Marathon, the only marathon in the Principality of Liechtenstein, is a unique event – it’s the only one of its kind that takes runners through a whole country! Starting from the flat Rhine valley and passing the Princely Castle in Vaduz, runners make their way up to the stunning mountain scenery of Liechtenstein. It’s the first mountain marathon of the season, and celebrated its 15th year in 2015. With 1800 meters in altitude uphill and 650 meters of altitude downhill, this is a challenging marathon experience. In 2007, the Half Marathon PLUS was added to the program, and in 2015 an even more unique experience was offered – the relay, which allows two people to share the distance.
