It’s the LAST running of Let’s Flamingle!! Enjoy it now, because it’s never coming back! Fun fact: flamingos are very social animals. They hang out in large packs, mingling. So that means that when large packs of runners who like having a good time get together in Central Florida, they must want to FLAMINGLE.It’s an Awesomesauce Event with some vintage Florida flair. Grab your flamingo loving, Golden Girls watching, orange juice drinking buddies and join us for food, fun, friendship, and a little run – or walk – through the park. With distances from 5K to half marathon, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Our races are super low-key and non-competitive; we’d prefer to race you vs. you, not you vs. anyone else. We DO time these races and post results though, so they do meet the qualifications for Disney corral placement! There is a 4 hour time limit for all distances with an optional early start if you think you’ll take longer than four hours. Walkers are TOTALLY welcome at all of our events; there is no running police here! We don’t care if you’re fast or if you’re slow, we just care that you have a good time!
Your registration fee includes entry into the race distance of your choosing, race swag, finisher medal for all distances, and our usual giant aid station setup including Gatorade, water, energy gels, snacks of all kinds, and a ridiculous amount of food.
The course is a 2.62 mile paved lap on the greenway path. You will pass the start/finish/aid station area multiple times throughout the race. Wait – what?! We are running in laps? Yep! The beauty of a lapped course means that you’re never alone; everyone gets to flaMINGLE all day long! This also means you’re welcome to leave a drop bag to access your own personal goodies and you can shed layers as you warm up, and you can reapply sunscreen, address any potential issues such as blisters, etc.
Awesomesauce Events produces low-key, laid-back running events that are focused more about camaraderie instead of competition. Our courses are not certified and not Boston qualifiers, but they are measured accurately and are USATF sanctioned. They are usually no bigger than 100 people. You won’t find mid-race splits or mile markers or bands on every corner or an army of volunteers with their arms outstretched holding drinks just for you. There are plenty of races that are more serious, and we choose to run for fun. We do time our races and the results are posted online, but you will not be timed to the millisecond by chip timing equipment. If these things are important to you, we welcome you to search out other race companies. Our races are more like having a picnic with your friends with some running or walking thrown in for fun. We welcome fun-loving, laid-back, family atmosphere type people who are more worried about having a good time over running absolutely as fast as they can. As with any other race put on by any other company, registration fees and add-on fees are final and are not refundable or transferable for any reason. Prices are subject to change.
