Its time to get to training!  The 3rd annual Back Roads not-so-typical half marathon is approaching.  We had such great feedback and wanted to do it again.  This year we continue to have do the 10K and a one mile fun run race along with the half marathon.  So, come with us as we take you on the back roads tour through the historic countryside of DeRidder.  No heavy traffic, no red lights; just fence lines, farm life, and a couple railroad tracks along the twists and turns of our back roads.  We are proud once again to be able to support Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief Efforts.  So many communities in Southwest Louisiana were devastated in 2020, on more than one occasion, and they were here for us.  It’s our turn to give back!  
Here are a few things to remember:
Kids are welcome to run the mile long “Fun Run” but if they are under the age of 13, will need to have an adult at the finish line to supervise them.  All spectators will need to stay clear of the road and not interfere with runners/walkers.  Once you finish the race, there will be water, Gatorades and other refreshments available free for participants. There will be top male and female placement awards for all 3 races.
Half Marathon10KFun Run, 1 mile 
Roads will only be secured for a limited time. If you choose to walk the 13.1 we ask that you walk at a brisk pace for the duration of the race. No pets; we don’t want to invite unwanted pets to run after our participants. This race is through the back roads and rural areas. There may be a few loose dogs along the route.
