The Copenhagen Marathon is a yearly road running event taking place on the streets of Copenhagen, Denmark. Since its inception in 1980, it has attracted around 10,000 participants on a round course from and to Islands Brygge. Featuring a completely flat elevation profile, the route takes runners through the different areas of the city, such as the green Østerbro, the multicultural Nørrebro, and the hip Vesterbro. The course is mostly asphalt with some cobblestone sections and has been measured and approved by the Danish Athletics Federation and the International Association of Athletics Federations IAAF/AIMS. Allowing participants to experience the different atmospheres and moods of Copenhagen, the Copenhagen Marathon course is a great way to explore the city’s best highlights and impressive architecture.
