The Sahara Marathon is an international sport event, which has grown to encompass the solidarity with the Saharawi people. This year, the event includes the standard-distance marathon, as well as 21km, 10km, 5km and the children’s race. Organized by the Secretary of State for Sport, Government of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic with the help of volunteers from around the globe, the objective of this race is to promote the sport activity among the Saharawi people and finance and develop humanitarian programs. It’s also a race to bring awareness to the long-term conflict they face, and to ensure that the hope of these people remains alive. Through this event, the organization strives to prevent the Saharawi people from being forgotten.
