Nafplio, also known as Anapli, is the capital of Argolida Regional Unity and a major port of the eastern Peloponnese. It is a beautiful city that was the capital of Greece from 1828 to 1833. Its historical centre is renowned for its traditional architecture. According to ancient Greek mythology, the city was founded by Nafplion, the son of the god Neptune and Amymonis. Archaeological findings suggest that the city has been in existence since the Mycenaean period. Nafplio is a popular tourist destination for both Atticans and Peloponnesians throughout the summer and winter months. Run in the Nafplio Marathon and take part in one of the most romantic cities in Greece. The race will give runners a unique experience, allowing them to run along the flat coastal route and admire the stunning views.
