Ahn Jung-geun Peace Marathon

The Ahn Jung-geun Peace Marathon is a unique event that honors and enacts the patriotic and peaceful spirit of Dr. Ahn Jung-geun. The marathon, which takes place at Yeouido Hangang Citizen Park, is designed with the intention of remembering his affection for his compatriots and his patriotism, as well as his spirit of peace, and carrying on his ideals. Over 1,000 citizens gather for the event to reflect on Dr. Ahn Jung-geun’s life and achievements, and to convey a message of peace.Dr. Ahn Jung-geun is a historic figure who contested Japanese atrocities and fought for his country’s independence. His love for his compatriots, his patriotism, and his spirit of peace remain inspirational to many today. The marathon is a significant event aimed at honoring his spirit and enacting the peace and patriotism he sought.Starting at Yeouido Hangang Citizen Park, near Yeouinaru Station, the course returns from Yanghwa Bridge. Participants have the opportunity to engrave the profound meanings left by Dr. Ahn Jung-geun into their hearts as they run. Participants can also spend valuable time exercising, contemplating his ideals, and enacting his aspirations for peace, national unity, and affection for his countrymen.
